Local Missions

CLG Missions exists to advance and implement the vision of the Church of the Living God: Rescuing the Perishing and Caring for the Dying.  We do this by transforming lost people into disciples of Jesus Christ. Our ministry is holistic, touching the total person- spirit, soul, and body.

This is in line with the pattern established by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  His ministry involved teaching, preaching, feeding, healing and deliverance (Luke 4:18-19,) and He has commissioned us to go and do the same (Matthew 28:18-20.)

LOCAL MISSIONS- HYATTSVILLE, MD

Listed below are the ministries within the Local Missions department at CLG-Hyattsville

EVANGELISM TEAM

How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? (Romans 10:14)

The mission of the Evangelism Team is to tell all people about the love of God and His provision of freedom from sin and eternal life through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. We use all means available to us – health fairs, door-to-door, street evangelism, job fairs, cook-outs, etc. to reach as many people as possible with the love of Christ (1 Cor. 9:22.) We meet the third Saturday of every month.

FOLLOW-UP & DISCIPLESHIP

The Great Commission given to us by Jesus is to make disciples (followers of Jesus) of all people. Our mission is to welcome new Christians into the Family of God and walk with them, teaching them and modeling the life of Jesus Christ, so that they, in turn, can become disciple-makers.  This ministry includes Follow-up volunteers, Discipleship Class teachers, and the Water Baptism, Team.

PRISON MINISTRY – ANGEL TREE PROGRAM

Through the Angel Tree Program, CLG has the privilege of participating in the ministry of Prison Fellowship founded by the late Chuck Coulson. Every year, CLG receives a number of children whose parents are incarcerated and who would otherwise not have any gift for Christmas.  CLG members volunteer to buy gifts and participate in a Christmas dinner hosted by the church.  The children and their guardians are invited to the dinner at which they also get a chance to hear the gospel.

NURSING HOME MINISTRY

This ministry was born out of a desire to reach out to the elderly in our community with the love of Jesus Christ.  The ministry team meets every second and fourth Sunday to pray together before ministering at a Nursing home in Rockville.  Our prayer is that God will raise up more volunteers so we can reach other nursing homes in the DC metro area.
